newbie first build - Sitka/Sapele Small Jumbo

Post by gilles » Tue Jun 28, 2022 6:41 am

Finally starting a lifelong dream of building an acoustic guitar. For my first build, I chose lower grade (cheaper) tonewoods. But I am quickly discovering that nothing is cheap when building a guitar!!!

Pretty woods, but nothing special. I knew that mistakes would be made and hopefully I would learn from my mistakes for the next builds.
Old Growth Sitka and Sapele.

Mahogany, Bolivian Rosewood (Pau Ferro), Canarywood and locally harvested Maple for the center strip.

The woods look nice to me :-)

I like the rosette as well, similar style to me first rosette (all of a month ago ;-) )

Great looking start! Looks like a good set of wood. The rosette looks great.
