What is the method for drawing the facet lines?

You need the pictures to understand what I am going to write ...

Before starting I thickness, profile and taper the neck to close to the final dimensions. On a piece of paper I draw out two full sized rectangular neck cross sections of my rough neck, one at the first fret and one at the ninth fret. You will see it in the slides. Inside of those two boxes I draw in the desired neck profiles. I then make a line in each box that takes off the corner of the neck and is touching (tangent to) the final profile. I measure from the center line and the fretboard side of the neck to where my line crosses the box outline and transfer those measurements to the neck. I do this on both sides of the neck respectively on the first and ninth fret location. I use the first and ninth fret marks to draw the facet lines.

Have you taken over the website? I have not been on in years. I was a close friend of Ken's, he actually worked for me prior to his retirement. I helped Ken's wife Laura part-out the business, but not built any additional instruments is some time. I have had to move a few times and do not have space to re-establish my shop. Regardless, I have an friend who wants to join the forum. He also new Ken well. I assume he can simply apply via the website. Let me know if anything else is required.

I noticed some information concerning Neck Fabrication. Was some of this information (profiling) extracted from my original instructions from 2012? I will check in on the site periodically to see if I can be of any assistance. I believe that you likewise have access to my personal email.

Do you know if there are any members or participants located in Norther Michigan? We have recently consolidated households into the Traverse City area and I'm reasonably well-connected with the guys at Traverse City Guitar Company. The owner is active in the building of guitars and other instruments and gaining visibility within the region.

Hi Dave!
Yes, by request I did take over the web site. We welcome new members. It takes a critical number of people to make a site like this work. I do not have quite the draw that Ken had. New members can sign up on the site. Sometimes it takes me a few days to activate the account but I set up the site to be fully functional other than posting for inactive members. I would love to have you check in and participate. I am not sure of any active members from northern Michigan.

I learned the neck carving profiling from a few different sources. I have read nearly every lutherie book written.
