Nuts and saddles from a West Coast provider?

Post by Dave Bagwill » Fri Apr 01, 2022 4:26 pm

I'm kind of in a hurry to purchase a bone nut and saddle or perhaps dark horn
Saddle:
85 mm long or longer
10 mm tall or taller
3.4 mm thick or thicker

Nut - 1/4" thick or thicker.

Amazon ships quickly but I don't know any of the suppliers. If you've dealt with one and had good results let me know.

Kevin, apparently you are resisting the New World Order? Ve haff our veys of curing that...

But yeah, I am a diehard foot/inch guy, so:
Saddle minimums
3 3/4 - 4" long

1/2" + tall

5/32" thick

Nut minimums
1 13/16" long
3/8" tall
1/4" thick

Willing to pay huge dollars. Well, dollars anyway...

For the most despirate situation: I have some too. But I charge Euros!

Long ago on another forum, Rick Turner stated that the Imperial system was superior to the Metrical one.
Because it is based on human parts (forearm, thumb etcetera..) and therefore better than a relationship to a random choosen stick in Paris.

Yesterday afternoon I found a supplier that had what I needed, free shipping, trusted source of bone. So I'm ok for now.
And good prices too.

I think the 'superior' system of measurement is whichever works best for the application at hand. I keep a mm-inch conversion app nearby so I don't actually have to use my brain. :-)

I was too slow, I was going to send you a couple of black horn saddle blanks. If you still need them let me know.
