Okay, I have 4 nicely bent bindings at .080".
Unfortunately, I really need them to be .060".
Don't ask...
Is there a precise method to do this thinning task? I've got the usual hand and power tools, but no luthier's station.

Re: Thin the bindings
Once bent, I would route the channel at .06", install the bindings and scrape them flush. I would be afraid of breaking already bent bindings in any of the tools and jigs I use to thickness bindings. In the channel they are supported and a sharp scrapper will take them down in no time.

Good idea, and if I had not stupidly already routed the channels for .080", I would do just that.
But that does give me an idea, which I will check out.

Re: Thin the bindings
Dave I'm with John on that one.
I am doing that right now on my current build. Only I planned it out, and I'm taking off .005". It is much easier to scrape the bindings flush then try and bring the sides down to the binding. I am using a razor blade on EIR
bindings. Works a treat!

Just sayin' - my channels have already been cut .080" deep, so I can't use this method.

I missed that part, sorry Dave.
Why do they need to be .060"? Purfling scheme? If so maybe you can change that to work with the .080" binding
