Once you see it it sure makes sense. It does work for fretboard sized radiuses. When I first needed a 25 foot radius dish I considered hanging a router from a cable tied to a tree branch. I sprung for the $80 cost at the time. But if the cable was a non stretchy seems like it could work as well.
