Carl - I've had good luck using the fret tang nippers Ken showed here on the forum somewhere - I'll look for a pic. I bought nippers at Medford Tool and did the simply mods to make them into fret nippers. They work well.
JohnL - I went for the wide wenge bindings to tie the neck in with a wenge rosette I made. And I think they look ok.

Re: My ugly neck
We had a thread on the nippers - I don't know if the link still works.

Re: My ugly neck
Pictures in the old link are blurred. No information that I could use.
So - - - - anybody have a picture (drawing?) of the modification so's I could copy it? I bought a RS nipper back when the thread was new, and never made the modification.
Thanks!

Re: My ugly neck
Just use a file to make slot such that the tang of the fret lays flat on the tool under the cutter.
Here a two pix different angles.

Re: My ugly neck
Here are some pix of the neck attached to the body - bolt-on - haven't sanded anything yet, or applied any finish.
For some reason, you have to click on two of them to get them opened. The first two.
This has been my experiment to build the cheapest good guitar I can. Got a deal on the mahogany, no bindings, cheap but pretty good tuners etc. A plain Jane but hopefully will sound pretty good.
