Mahogany O’M

Post by John J » Fri Mar 08, 2019 12:15 pm

Hey gang. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. I’m still building and this will be my 19th instrument. It’s a slightly modified OM shape (a bit more rounded) that I like. That’s where similarity to a traditional OM ends. This will be all mahogany, or as near to that as can be.

I’ve got the sides bent and the rosette installed in the top. I’ve layed out the top bracing and cut and dimensioned the mahogany for the braces. The bracing is a design by Grant Goltz. This will be my third with this bracing. If there’s interest I will post in detail.

Me, too. Hoping for more progress reports. It started to get right interesting.

And I noticed the rosette that OP used. I've uses several that looked just like it. Bought a half-dozen over time. Only one has arrived intact (yes, I'm either a slow learner or an unrealistic optimist). But they looked nice to me and draw many pleased comments.

Thanks guys. I kinda let this one slip away. I neglected to take pics of the build, but I'll open a new thread on my current one. Same bracing and such.
