Grandson's birthday parlor

Post by Carl Dickinson » Wed Aug 21, 2019 10:23 pm

Finished just in time for the youngest grandson's birthday. Parlor guitar, Antes plan, Cedar top, Narra back, sides, neck and binding, Manzanita bridge (pinless), fingerboard, peghead veneer front and back and neck heel plate. Nitro on body and Tru-oil on the neck.

Sorry the pics aren't so good. I'll figure that out someday.

Gorgeous! What a gift. I really like the pinless bridge. The guitar has a great overall look as well. Nice design.

That look very nice , Carl. Well done. Maybe you could post a clip some time, your grandson playing.

just gorgeous!

Thanks for sharing.

A question about the pinless bridge, made for the guitar or from a vendor (if so, which one)?

I made it from Manzanita from my property. Used some of the ideas from this blog, https://jennybiddle.com/day-23-design-the-bridge/ and https://jennybiddle.com/day-24-bridge-engineering/. Used the drill press with a milling vise.
Thanks for the kudos gents.
Herman, the boy is 10. He's trying, but it will be a while before we'll get a recital. He has done well with beginning piano though.

ok Carl, that is fair. My grandsons hit on my wife's drums, but it does not sound like music either ;)
