Hi Dave I have a couple question to ask you if you don't mind.
I read somewhere on here where you said you were using another pore filler that you liked better, but cannot find the thread. Can you tell me something about it or where the thread is?
Also just for talking everybody said you don't have to pore fill the spruce top but if you did it would not hurt anything would it?
Thanks Dave.

Re: Tru_Oil Question
The TO works fine as a pore filler, mixed with the dust as it is sanded into the pores. But some folks like the pores filled, but with a clear pore filler. I've used a shellac filler, Timbermate (also has color though) and I think aqua-clear for one guitar.
I have z-poxy here but haven't seen the need to use it yet.
Did you have a bad experience with the TO?
Maybe someone else can chime in on pore filling the top - for softwoods I'm not sure there are any pores, or they are so tiny as to not benefit from filling of that kind.
Anyone?

Re: Tru_Oil Question
If you pore fill a spruce top you will not hurt it as long as you sand it all off. Most pore fillers are sanded back to bare wood. When you do that on spruce it will all go away.
Re: Tru_Oil Question
No I had no problems with the TO I love the product.
I just need to find another pour filler maybe that Zinnser Seal Coat? I also want to make or stain the Mahogany a darker color on the next one I do.
Thanks for all of your help.

Re: Tru_Oil Question
Hi Dave hope you are well. I have a question for you as usually.
If you are in the process of doing the Tru- Oil and you see a area where it needs more wax free shellac is it too late or can I redo that area and then proceed with the Tru-Oil??

Re: Tru_Oil Question
Hi - doing well. thanks
I don't know, it would depend on the placement pretty much. If the dewaxed shellac is being used as a pore filler, you could just use some thin coats of TO in the affected area until filled.
You don't have a pic, do you?
