ya, I made another mistake.
The rosette I wanted to be glued in was not even thick on all places. Therefore I had to make the channels a bit on the wide side.
No problemo to me. I will fill up the gaps with stained epoxy.
Normally a few whipes of shellac is enough to seal the wood from penatrating the pores by the stain.
But not this time.
Routing : perfect
Fitting : almost perfect
Glueing: perfect.
Result: F.....d up!
Beginners: heads up! Even after a lot of guitars, mistakes happen. Keep breathing.

Ach, what a mess. If it happened to you it could happen to any of us - thanks for the heads-up, H!

I'll flip the top and start over on the back side. In a few hundred years people will debate why Herman did put on a rosette on the inside? That is why these guitars will sound so great. A second rosette will be a industrial standard in time. Ha!

I have been there. I have not had it happen with epoxy (but I never used stained epoxy) only CA.

Bad luck Herman but if the guitar turns out sounding great, I'm going to start putting rosettes on the inside of my guitars!
Re: Stained glue? take care!
Double work, double fun?
Re: Stained glue? take care!
I agreed with the customer to use the back side of the top. Made a rosette again and glued it with clear epoxy.
Guess what! Jippiekayeey. Coloration of the pores again! Strange stuff this torrified wood. Very brittle to plane, doen't suck up waterbased glue and undesired coloration effects. I am going to glue the braces with HHG. Curious how that turns out. In case of disaster I'll post and make you feel good.
