I built this top a few weeks ago and kept it in a humidity controlled room, which is in my house. I took it to the shop a few days ago, which is not humidity controlled, in preparation for gluing. While doing the final fitting I found the gap at the bottom. I am not sure if this condition has been there since I built the top or happened after.
I set some weight on the top in hopes of convincing it to flatten out. No luck so far. I can push it down into place with a small to moderate amount of pressure. I am concerned that if I glue it now it will come loose later or worse, lead to a crack.
It's an L-00. The X brace and tone bars are radiused to 28'. The lift appears to start mostly below the tone bars.
Is this safe to glue? I have a feeling no. If not how should l proceed to flatten it?
Thanks for the help and hope the pic comes through!
Would you glue this?
Re: Would you glue this?
All gluing of bracing and all assembly for that matter should be done in a low humidity environment.
The idea is to have parts at their smallest dimensions -- while expansion of the wood may affect set up a bit its the shrinkage that produces the cracks --- yes assembling that now would/could be a problem, the curvature is not a big deal. Get all the parts into the controlled conditions and let the all acclimate, do the assembly there and you'll be OK.

Re: Would you glue this?
Thanks Ken, I have moved everything into the controlled room. I will give it a few days and report back. If everything looks good I will do the assembly there.
