Lost in translation

Post by Jay McClellan » Wed Jan 18, 2017 11:45 pm

I happened across this cheap Chinese thermometer/hygrometer today and had to laugh. Imagine you are a person who speaks no English, and your job is to create the faceplate for the product with English text. Naturally you type some text in your native language into a translation program, and then copy all the English text you see assuming that it says just what you entered. I'm surprised (a little) that this actually made it into production.

That is funny. What would worry me is 30 C is a lot warmer that 20 F.

Can't be cheap. That is a lot of letters.
