Olive wood is in my future guitar building

I love olive wood. Purchased from a local home good store. That is $45 spent, 3 pieces are straight grain, will make many bridges and headstock veneers...
I'm going to slice some up and use for purflings too.

Dave, I wasn't planning, or is that planing on buying this wood, but my wife found it, and I couldn't resist
John, lots of olive groves in my area. I was the Safety Manager for an olive cannery for many years. This wood is supposed to be from Spain.

Kevin, I was at Woodcraft today and happened to see some nice olive wood flitches. I would love to hear from anyone who has used it for back and sides. I finely pulled the trigger on my 17" Grizzly band saw and can't wait to do some real re-sawing with it. I've only had enough time to set it up and run a couple of pieces of cedar through it, but what a difference from my old 1980 Taiwan made band saw.

Jim, nice! You will enjoy that big saw I'm sure. These pieces are all 1/2" thick or more, some almost 3/4". I think paired with EIR back and sides, and either spruce or redwood top it will look awesome on the head stock and for a bridge and heel cap.
