Let me re-word that question. :-)

I will glue the two back pieces together in a vacuum bag. If I lay the pieces in a radiused dish, the bag will pull the back into the radius and once the glue is dry, the back will stay that way. Then I can glue the 15' radius braces on. That would work.

OTOH, I could glue the two back pieces together in a vacuum bag, on a FLAT surface - then proceed as we usually do, pressing the 15' radius braces onto the back in a radius dish.

Is there any advantage of either method?

I can't speak but as a layman, but if I had the opportunity to laminate the back in a dish that holds its shape without any forcing the matter, I'd take that choice any time. That's done all the time while folks are laminating sides, they don't wait to force the sides into shape after lamination if they can make up shaped laminates instead.

Thanks Peter, I get your point. I will be showing my side procedure in the next couple of days.

I'd still like to hear if there is an advocate for laminating flat and then clamping with the braces in a radius dish. Anyone?

If I was certain the layers made perfect contact to each other definitely in a dish (sand bags or vac press).

Bit of a hiccup last night.
I was laminating the back in a vacuum bag, on the 15' back radius form from KMG, and early on (is my guess, I went to bed and left it) a breaker was tripped in the shop and the pieces did not laminate well. So - I will not count on that system for an overnight job, and will do it during shop hours.
Now I need to try and separate the two pieces that are somewhat joined by TB original. I may have no option but to plane off the inside layer, clean up the glue, cut another piece of veneer and do it again.

Tough luck Dave. Hope it works out second try.
