The Martin books are pretty inexpensive when compared to similar books in the bowed instrument veriety. There is some inaccurate information in the book but it's quite minuscule and overall the book is highly accurate.
The 8 string ditson dread is a Hawaiian style instrument. It looks cooler in person btw.
