Amazing adaptable Mega Mold
Amazing adaptable Mega Mold
Next project up will be a somewhat traditional Irish bouzouki. With a few minutes work and some mdf scraps I was able to adapt the Mega Mold to fit the bouzouki shape and not have to create a separate mold. This piece of engineering from Ken is amazing.

Nice adaptation. Did you make the extension pieces or were they KMG supplied?

I made them up, just had to make sure the rounded face was perpendicular to the work board. I was originally thinking of routing longer slots, but thankfully I came up with this solution. Easier I think. I might even be able to do a ukulele build this way.

JJ - fwiw, I also drilled holes at the outside end of every slot, large enough to fit the head of the bolts. This way, I can add or remove bolts without having to lift the upper part of the MM.

I drilled a few holes like that on some of the slots. I think I got that idea from you on some earlier picture. So thank you.

Great idea Dave!
I am actually looking at incorporating that feature in a future design -- but, getting a clean chip free cut is a bit of a problem since the blank is machined from the back side.
