Is there ANY reason in the entire WORLD or any world for that matter, why a company sells mandolin tuners with 1/4" (close enough) posts and then provide bushings THAT FALL BETWEEN 5/16" AND 3/8"?? Is there ANY reason they could not opt for one or the other??Since the bushings don't fit the smaller bit, and are too loose for the larger??

How to make that 5/16" just that wee bit larger = got any hints/methods/special cuss words/incantations?

A reamer works great to fit bushings

The hole is not tapered; it was drilled with a forstner bit.

I believe using a moderately tapered reamer to help seat bushings is standard procedure. Do you have pixs of the tuning machines?
