Redwood top help
I'm thinking this top is similar to cedar. I was looking for the General rule posting on thicknessing tops but can't seem to find it I know I read it somewhere here a while back.

Re: Redwood top help
Paul, the redwood top I've just put on my current OM build I thicknesses to .110 inch.
Seemed just right. The top now has a very nice tap tone.

Re: Redwood top help
Ok guys thanks for the feedback
Re: Redwood top help
I got carried away with finish sanding my rosette and took the soundhole area down to .095 while the outer rim is at .110. My stupidity. Learning as I go. Could or should I continue building this dred or start over with a new top. Any suggestions welcome.

Re: Redwood top help
I think you will be okay. If you are concerned about support at the sound hole, glue a surround underneath like you would see on many classicals. There is no sound production to speak of in this area anyway, so stiff is okay
