Fret slotting

Post by Brad Hall » Sun May 08, 2016 11:02 pm

What do you use for fret slotting? I'm looking at both the StewMac and LMI fret slotting jig and indexing templates. Both look like quality tools. I don't see any others in my search. Pro's & con's of each and an alternative if you have one would be appreciated.

I've used the KMG fret templates for some time now. There are instructions for building the jig itself that are provided, and it makes a sturdy unit.

Brad, this is how I do it, 10 guitars a counting. The template happens to be from LMI, one I got in a trade with some other stuff, the miter box was under $5 at Lowes, and the fret saw is from Stewmac I think.
A little elbow grease and the job is done pretty quickly and precisely.
