So who uses Mirco Mesh?
So who uses Mirco Mesh?
Seems way pricey --- how long does it last as compared to regular wet/dry abrasive.

Re: So who uses Mirco Mesh?
I have used it. I stopped using it when I got my buffer as I did not need to sand to such a fine grit. It is cloth backed and I found that when wet sanding it out lasts wet\dry abrasives (that could be that it was so much more expensive I made it last). It does perform well.
Re: So who uses Mirco Mesh?
I too used it, up to 20.000#, but I found it too elaborous. Cannot tell you about its life span.
Now I sand up to 2000# and after that I use a 3 step 3M polishing compound schedule that works.

Re: So who uses Mirco Mesh?
I've used Micro Mesh to completely polish a nitro finish after giving it a month to cure - no buffing device used. Was nice to look at (and think about how "pure" the scratch removal process was, given that no slip and slide was involved) but took 40-50 hours. I am not kidding. My patience was worn quite thin.

Here is a new Robert O'Brien video on using Micro Mesh:

He makes it look much easier than I found it to be.

Re: So who uses Mirco Mesh?
Tried Micro Mesh once, never used it again. Wet sanding up to about 1500 then using rubbing compound and polish did a great job for me, even doing it by hand, even better when using Surbufs on a RO sander. I now have a buffing system, and it was great on my last lacquer finished guitar.
