Blind Boy Paxton playing my 00-12 in his living room

Post by Dave Bagwill » Wed Jan 13, 2016 12:45 am

I made a 00-12 for a friend of mine, posted the construction on this forum..he liked it. He just today had a chance to sit with Blind Boy Paxton in BBP's living room and listen to him play, and my friend had taken the 00 with him and sent me a pic of it being played.
The youtube vid is not my guitar - from an old performance to give you a taste of BBP music.
I'm hoping to get a clip of mine being played.

I saw him play at The Live Oak Music Festival the year before last. I liked his show, but it turns out he isn't blind. :)

Say it ain't so, Jim!!! :-)
Update : he like the guitar's tone and playability and workmanship - ahhh...maybe he's just being polite, that's fine...he's picking up a new JOhn How tomorrow, specially made for him.

I should have a clip or two of him playing that 00 later this afternoon.

Straight from Wikipedia.

" As a teenager, he began to go blind, losing most of his eyesight by the age of 16."

I would never have guessed that he is legally blind by how well he was able to walk out onto the stage, find his seat and instruments and do his show including some impromptu jams with Joe Craven, where you could clearly see them make eye contact. I guess when I think of someone who is blind I think of total loss of sight. My mistake. He did put on a great, fun show.
Jim.

PS. Apparently Wikipedia isn't always completely accurate.

Hey Jim, I sure wasn't trying to correct you....not for a minute, I just listened to the vid, read what you wrote and was curious. I'd never heard of him before.
I suppose he might see a little and therefore can maneuver around????

No worries Kevin, I truly was surprised to hear that he was legally blind.
