I had a little bit of time to make progress. This guitar is being build for a niece (I have 24 nieces and nephews). I send them a link to Depaule Supply and have them select fret board markers. Some have been easier than others. I had to go to a 1/64" end mill to route for the tails and the trunks of the smallest markers.

I still have to cut out and install my hawk and moon logo and glue on the fret board but I am getting close.

Those fret markers look great, and on a light colored fretboard and such detail I'd say you did fabuously well.

Such fun to watch it all come together. ....great photos! One quick question: how did you attach the neck? Did you pin it in, or is it a dovetail joint?

I won't speak for John -- but as mentioned in a different post, some of the things covered in the book you have are OK --- others, like the pinning notion, not so much. With modern fasteners available that primitive arrangement makes no sense. As far as I know the author's dropped the idea long, long ago and it was never adopted by any high end guitar maker.

This guitar is a bolt on mortise and tenon. I know Cumpiano had a pinned neck in his book but he switched to a bolt-on in a web update http://www.cumpiano.com/#!an-improved-n ... oint/c1umc. I have done dovetail joint in past guitars, it is a fine joint, but I like the ease and the serviceability of a bolt on.
