Progress a little slow. Finished up the z-poxy pore fill on the body and fine tuning the neck. I got it shaped to where I'm happy with the feel. I didn't like the line from the scarf joint on the back of the headstock so I decided to put a back veneer on. I notched the neck with an scalpel and chisel. Glued on the veneer and sanded to blend. I like the way it turned out.

The veneer on the back reinforces the scarf joint too. Good structural idea, besides looking good.

Never saw one inlay-ed like that -- seems like a good idea. How thick is the head-stock now?

The rosewood veneer is 3/64" and brought the final thickness to just under 11/64". I didn't think about my method, it just seemed to me the way to do it. Is there a usual way to do it? Or is it done earlier in the process?

Usually the veneer layer, or more often than not, veneer layers are attached to the back of the HS and extend on to the neck arm. Then the final shaping of the junction is completed which leave an interesting blended/feathered area -- when multiple layers are used the affect is very striking.
