I've developed this method for handling the occasional pesky FB extension -- but really have not found the need on any of my projects. How was the fit with the fingerboard simulator tool? If the tool/neck assembly laid flat than you would know there is a problem with the fingerboard. If the test was not done its hard to say if the tweaking operation would solve the issue.

I think there is a slight tweak to the fb itself. Did some light sanding to the soundboard to get the nice flat fit to the simulator. I've thought along those lines for bolting the extension, but realize I couldn't do at this point because of the lack of backing on the inside. I don't think the popsicle brace would be enough of a backer.

Actually you don't need much of a backer -- nylon or home made plywood washers would work fine. Thing is if the FB extension is squirrelly it may need to be corrected closer to the end.

"Tack" gluing as mentioned is also a viable option

Are you going to finish the neck and body separately? If separately, I would wait to do any thing until after the guitar is finished. When the guitar flexes after being strung up that gap might close. If you do glue Tightbond is good. Yes a couple of spots of glue. Normally I would place one in the center of the extension. Your case would be different as it looks like the majority of the fret board is lying flat already. If you do plan to glue the extension you will need to either keep finish off the area under the fret board or clear the finish before gluing.

Yes I do finish the neck and body separately. I'll wait and see how things shake out. I figure it's primarily asthetics.

Beginning the finish process. My first try with z-poxy pore filling. First coat on and sanded back. So far so good. I have a coat of Seal Lac on the top to protect. I'm going to use the Royal Lac on this one. I have only finished with tru oil on my previous builds.
