Was cruising the aisles of my local hardware store today, and in the glue department I noticed little brown bottles of Titebond 'hide glue'. Is there any use for it that takes advantage of any properties exclusive to the stuff?
Thanks, folks.

This guy has an interesting column dealing with this glue. Notice that a few second in the microwave yields HOT hide glue.

Before I was properly educated on the internet, I made my first guitar using that glue. The guitar is still together today. Now that I have been educated I never touch the stuff.

Most people have had good success with it; we luthiers (including me) contest everything. I would not have any trouble using it. I like the reversability feature. The one testimonial was from a guy who used it to glue down his bridge - has lasted many years.

Re: Titebond hide glue
Interesting item. My current customer likes me to use hide glue on his OO. We agreed that I use it all over, except on the perimiter of the body (too long working time). This cold product could be an alternative. Let see what the comments are here.

This is the article HHG lover's hate --- I guess we are not supposed to confuse the issue with facts?

Re: Titebond hide glue
I'm at work with the Hot Hide Glue now. And I have to admit it is not that hard to work with as I expected. It smells not as bad as the boneglue I have. Application is easy. And the squeese-out is very very easy to remove. The only trouble is the short working time. But for the rest I would say to you guys: give it a try.
To beginners I should add: Stay with the Tidebond. Try HHG later on.
