It starts today.

Greetings all. I've been following all the builds progressing along on this site for several months now. I'm impressed and inspired by the process and the results. Many talented craftsmen here. This afternoon my first kit, a KMG D-18 style, begins. The MegaMold arrived and is now mostly assembled. I'm impressed by the quality and ease of assembly. My work bench is set up. I have the tools I need, although minimal. The actual guitar wood arrives mid week. Been through the build manual many times. I'm excited to begin. I'll learn how to post some photos of the progress. I'm sure to have many questions and appreciate this group to help me succeed.

Welcome Brad. I look forward to seeing your progress. Take it step by step and be absolutely clear on each step. If not, ask Ken. He's quick to respond and get you back on the right path. And above all have fun. It's addicting.

Thanks for the encouragement. Got the MegaMold all assembled and put the cam clamps together today. I've been a woodworker my entire life, have many clamps of many different types, but have never even seen a cam clamp before. Never too old for something new. Waiting for the guitar components is the hard part so far. No real hurry, just excited to begin.

I am keeping a log and taking photos as I go. A few problems interpreting parts of the manual, but prompt help from Ken straightened me out. I'm profile sanding the back side of the rims tomorrow. I'm trying to be very meticulous and precise, so I'm following the advice of dry fitting everything prior to glue up. The quality of the wood is impressive. I have a guitar shaped object. I'll see if I can figure out how to post progress pics this week. I lay awake thinking about the build, so the infection is complete. Find myself talking about the next one frequently. Couldn't be happier.
