My Third Guitar, a KMG Kit with some modifications.

Upon finishing my 2nd KMG kit, a 12-fret 00 and liking the feel of the guitar I decided to try my hands at another 00. Ken said he didn’t offer a 00 cutaway but he has sent out kits without bending the upper bout on the cutaway side. I took this as a challenge. It was. And I am very pleased with the results.

I thought I’d try to bend the end of the cutaway side 90 degrees onto face of neck block. Beveling almost thru side (see pic), then with a little moisture and heat and it folded the 90 degrees surprisingly.

I trimmed off fret tangs as for a bound fingerboard. While CA gluing fret ends I inserted tang size ebony into fret slot ends. Installation and finish went quick and looks nice too.

For the rope binding I built them to fit the curves (see pic). Dipped rope strips in boiling water then glued between B/W purfling directly into a 1/16”ply mold. It made the binding installation much easier.

Brian - it would be valuable to the forum if you could post, in detail, your finishing schedule - from sanding to pore filling to application of the TO to buffing.
If you can find time to do this, we have TO section in the Finishing part of the forum. There are different ways to work the TO and whatever you did, someone else can benefit from it.
