Hi guys,
I have a beautiful set of figured Ziricote. I want to build a 12 fret guitar. Now the choices begin.....
I already own a Martin D-35MP, 1976 Hohner 310, Prewar Brazilian Dread I built.
I am thinking of either a 000 Norman Blake, 12 Fret D, Taylor style GA 12, or a Collings D2HS plans.
I have never played a Ziricote guitar. So I am not sure which body style might best fit this particular wood.
Just would like some opinions,

Would not the soundboard and its bracing influence the guitar's sound a bunch more than the b/s wood?

Buy comparing the physical properties weight per cubic ft., density etc. you can get a fair idea of how an instrument might sound. As an example Honduran Mahogany versus Black Walnut. Because East Indian Rosewood and Honduran Mahogany are so widely excepted and produce the sound qualities that we "expect to hear" I think its fair to say they represent the base lines.

Not having built with ziricote for back and sides but I did read somewhere that the sound characteristics are very similar to east Indian rosewood.

I am really leaning towards either using the KMG Norman Blake style template or a OO 12 Fret slot head. I really would like to build an all KOA OO when the right deal on the wood come along. This Ziri I have is popping. My daughter call it Scooby Doo wood.
I was thinking of inlaying the pair of eyes the have from DePaul in the 12th fret for her.
