A stunning back. I love using sap wood as the center strip. Daniel in the new year we should meet up. Currently I am still traveling around New Zealand having a great time.

Work on the Ziricote 00-12 continues.

I finally took time to get the Grizzly 18" bandsaw running. I got it as a pile of parts and just had to machine a few pieces to get it up and running. Long term I want to put a Wood Slicer blade on it for higher quality resawing, but for now I'm just using one of the old blades that came with it for cutting some brace stock.

After cutting the brace stock to slightly oversize, and hand planed them down to the final 1/4" for use on the 00-12.

Hand planing and scraping, I've brought the back down to final thickness, and ready for the back reinforcing strip.

I thinned the sides to right about .080" and scraped each side to a fine finish. I was honestly a littler nervous about bending the Ziricote, as some had warned that it can be brittle - but with just a light misting of water, wrapped in paper, and heated to 300 degree, the sides bent beautifully.
