Guitar styles
Could some one please explain the way guitars are categorized by the Om or 00,000 ext. or point me in the direction for some info. I've seen all off it but never really understood .
Re: Guitar styles
"OM" is a widely mis-used nomenclature which over time has come to be associated with the "000" size guitar with the neck attached at the 14th fret. "OM" actually means Orchestra Model And with that designation Martin was referring to the design feature of the long scale fret board 25.34" So at a point in time Martin decided to offer "Orchestra Models" (long scale 25.34") finger boards on all body sizes which were generally standard with 24.82" short scales. Now 25.34" has become the standard scale length so for the most part "OM" no longer applies.
