That is some really nice work, Dan.
Have you considered using a clear pickguard?

I love the idea of a clear pick guard - the buddy I'm building this for is leaning toward the one in the upper left.

What is your preferred clear pick guard material? Something nice an thin.

I bought a couple from stewmac, very thin, self-adhesive, that also remove easily with a little heat.
