Back contour
Back contour
Should the entire neck block profile conform to the contour where it will, eventually, meet the back when glued. I have contoured the back of the rim to the point that all of the kerfing and tail block meet the sides of the body. A little of the inside edge of the neck block, let's say 1/4" remains unsanded. I do not want to remove too much of the back profile. But, it seems that the entire back of the neck block should adhere to the back when finally glued?

Re: Back contour
Personally, I would glue some material to the block and then sand it down again. It's an easy and quick fix.

Re: Back contour
Getting the neck block and tail block shaped to perfectly conform to the back plate contour can be tricky, its one of the issues and processes we address in the "KMG Success Kit Packages" If the inside end of the neck block does not match the back plate the glue joint will be force fit and the result will be "an odd" looking depression or hump on the back -- which gets worse looking under the gloss finish.

Re: Back contour
FYI, normally when that happens your block was not tall enough to start.

Thanks, I'll add a little material.
