Making a pipe

Post by Dave Bagwill » Thu Oct 09, 2014 8:49 pm

I was cruising through this luthier's site and lo and behold he also makes Hobbit-type pipes.

I would really like some techniques/hints on how to make them. Anybody here have any experience in pipe-making?

Heaven forbid, Herman!!! I'd give up my cocaine and meth habits before I'd give up me stogies!! :-)
Thanks for the help on the pipes, btw. :-)

Dave I've carved wooden pipes before. Not from Brier but just maple. Using Ebony for the stem.

Dave I really don't know how to answer other then to say to get yourself a piece of wood a sharp Knife and whittle away anything that doesn't look like a pipe. Drilling the bowl and the stem usually gives you the overall sculpture. Personally Heroin injected works faster then tabaccy.
Maybe off the subject but I just bought a new I-6 Phone and cannot log onto the forum. Had to hook up my laptop. It says it doesn't recognize my email address. The same address I received the email for the new posting on this thread. Have you ever wished that there was BUTTON you could push that would tell a computer system "YES DUMMY THAT'S ME".
The real dumb part was it recognized me yesterday.
