Trim router

Has anyone used the Grizzly H7791 trim router? It has good reviews and is half the price of a Bosch Colt or Ridgid 2401. Would this be of sufficient quality to use for cutting bindings and will it fit on the adapter in KMG's kits?

Dimensionally it the same as the Harbor Freight (little less advertised power) and several other imports -- it will work fine with the KMG IA Binding attachment.

I don't think so -- set up your binding attachment as a single purpose tool it's a great time saver and adds to accuracy. Check the collet slot for chips, place a #18 washer between the base tightening knob to prevent wear and subsequent slipping. That said if you can afford a better tool "go for it" many guys/gals have Colts. I've read some exaggerated horror stories about imported tools -- no matter what the problem they always seem to include the destruction of a set of expensive guitar wood. We've use the imports for light work in our shop for years with no issues. Of course for all our daily "CNC production runs" we use Porter Cables. But, unfortunately, we are all prone to operator error and most times its not the tools that is the culprit.

This is similar (probably comes out of the same factory) to the HF router. I have used the HF on 4 guitars, never threw a bit or any other problem with it.
You can get the HF router for about $25 still I think.

I've thrown bits on HF and Wilton....my fault for not tightening enough....they need to be cranked.

I have the KMG binding jig and use the HF laminate trimmer that ken included with it. The HF trimmer has worked fine, but could be better. I plan on buying a festool laminate trimmer to replace the underpowered colt I used to have and buying an extra base for the kmg jig, but I doubt it work :(
