Pacific Rim Tonewoods

Post by Daniel P » Mon Sep 29, 2014 7:01 pm

I recently discovered that Pacific Rim Tonewoods is only about 30-40 minutes from my place. Have any of you sourced tone woods from them before?

By chance I have time to swing by there tomorrow, and Eric Warner said I'd be welcome to visit. Hopefully I can get some photos of the operation to share.

That would be sweet. I've looked at their site but never used them

What a wonderful experience getting to see the process in action.

I spent about an hour and half out at Pacific Rim Tonewoods this morning - got to tour the facility, talk with Eric about wood selection, history of the company and see the guys at work.

Its an incredible operation they have out there, and the crew, many of whom have worked there for 20+ years are dedicated experts. Really cool to see how the wood is transformed from rounds into top plates.

You quickly understand why many of the top builders source their tonewoods here.

I checked out the website yesterday and could not find products to order there.

Kevin - it appears they most commonly supply tonewoods to much larger builders like Martin, Gibson and Taylor. They do work with some smaller scale/custom builders like Lowden, Huss & Dalton and Collings etc., but I don't think they deal piece by piece.
