Filament tape

If the following are true:

You have routed good clean channels for your wooden bindings
You have bent the bindings and they dry fit well
You have put a wash coat of sealer on the top edges and the sides

Then why not use filament tape? It is clear, which makes it easy to see gaps . It is much stronger than paper tape, so it will pull tighter. With the above precautions, it sticks well and with care, or with care and a heat gun, can safely be removed.

I have two answers.

1. Habit - most likely

2. Fear of tape residue.
