Looking good jJohn. That 22 gram should do it. My normal ebony bridges weigh also about 30-35 gram. Now I'll try Wengé, see what that does. Nice word though.. "ebonize".

That is pretty cool. I think I'd like to keep the walnut look though.
I have a beautiful piece of claro walnut that I've been saving for a couple of bridges, probably will use it on my crossover.
John, can you ebonize any wood with that solution?

It works with wood with enough tannins to chemically react (walnut and oak for sure). I read with other wood you could soak the wood in tree bark tea or even black tea to get tannis into the wood fibers and then try the solution. Walnut may have been OK for this guitar, but then I would not have had the opportunity to play with ebonizing.

Into my second day of spraying Target coatings EM6000 water base lacquer. The pore fill was zpoxy. The picture are with 7 coats on the back and sides and four on the top. My plan is to level the back and sides at 8 coats and the top at 6 coats. After that I will spray 6 more coats on the back and sides. Check for any problems fix and level if necessary and finish with 2 more coats on the back sides and top. That will be a total of 16 for the back and sides and 8 for the top. I am spraying 3 mill wet coats, I use a mill gauge to check the guns setting each before I spray the guitar.

I decided to french polish the neck. No real reason other than I thought it would be fun.

Looking really nice. Is the everclear for nerve calming or part of your finish mixture

I mix the shellac with it and generally use it instead of DA.
