This is a youtube vid of a clone 'luthier's friend' that I am going to put together later this week, hopefully. Pretty simple.

Re: A very good DIY sanding station
Santa brought me a Luthier's Friend last Christmas. Very useful.
I've "Ben-Had" again!

Santa always liked you better :-( I got two pairs of socks and a King James Bible, of which I already had a couple.

I found this a while back and was recently looking for it to get ideas on making one. Thanks.

I made a very crude version of the Luthier's Friend before I ever knew what a Luthier's Friend was, however a Luthier's Friend is on my "to get" list.

Dave,
What a great way to bring down the thickness of the back of the headstock. Worth building one just for that purpose, but should also be good for bridges, and maybe even fretboards. I will put this on my list to build.
Thanks for posting.

Re: A very good DIY sanding station
I got the complete luthier tool kit with all the options for half the price of just the tool at the GAL auction. I have used a safe-t planer to thickness my head stocks. But I have used the luthier tool on nuts and other small parts that I can run through the thickness sander. I should try it out on the neck I am making now.
