Ah I didn't realize this was going to be a slot head guitar. Very nice.

And I did use tight fitting shims to prevent ragged holes on the inside.

Re: Steve's KMG 000-12 kit
We're going to spray Steve's finish on tomorrow, so today we sanded to 320, laid on a good coat of zinsser sealcoat, let it dry, then sanded down to the wood, leaving shellac in the pores. I just put on the second coat of sealcoat, will let it dry an hour or so and then remove it, and the pores will be filled with clear unwaxed shellac. Looks shiny right after brushing it on!

Picture of Steve spraying on a coat of finish in his shop, and a pic of the guitar after a coat has been sprayed.
It's a water-based finish that had no noxious fumes, sprayed on easily.

Looking Good
but
Water Borne coating mist/over spray can kill you dead (maybe not as many brain cells at first) just like the solvent coatings -- at the very least a particle mask should be used!
