Sorry Tim, I made a confusing sample. The 2 strums are the same. The difference occurs within each strum.
If you still cannot hear any difference, well, that saves you a lot of money.;-)

The "craft issue" will probably always be with us. Todd Cambio of Fraulini Guitars openly complains about needing to spend so much time crafting/woodworking/metalworking when he would rather put it into improving the sound of his very remarkable ladder braced instruments. (Todd has some great sound clips of Paul Geremia playing a couple of his models posted on the site below.) Yet he has crafted, from scratch, by hand, an incredible reproduction of the early Oscar Schmidt 12 string tailpiece. I mean, his result is immaculate, though elegantly understated.

Having a tailpiece that fine on an instrument, just like other aspects of basic, well executed craft, must have an effect on the player's response - I suppose, anyway. And that stronger response just might have an effect on how the player makes the thing sound. In the end, an instrument's potential sound is only a possibility, until a player makes it work. They gotta like what we do for the project to be fulfilled, including when the player happens to also be the maker.
