Grover Rotamatic tuners - - - real and counterfeit

Post by peter havriluk » Mon May 26, 2014 4:34 pm

I've noticed a bunch of ads on E*** offering 'loose' tuners. I've also noticed a bunch of ads from Asian-based vendors of 'Grover' branded tuners, also sold 'loose'. I'd hate to purchase some Grovers without packaging from a US or Canadian vendor only to find out that I was sold counterfeit tuners that were imported and offered for sale from a US or Canadian vendor as if they were the real thing. I wouldn't know the difference until I got them, and then maybe not, either.

Comments/experiences/advice?

Thanks!

You don't have to rob a bank to afford real Grovers --$.02

Ken, true indeed. I bought two sets of satin chrome finished ones (look nice to me) for roughly thirty bucks each, from a US vendor who was selling them at auction in their original packaging. That was about 2/3 of mailorder retail. But I didn't manage to buy some black ones which I wanted from the same vendor. I was too cheap to bid high enough to purchase them.
