Re: Dust seperator
I guess I got lucky catching this item on sale -- I hooked it up this morning on a 3/4HP Delta dust collector (empting the bag on Delta's is murder!!!) works really good. Its a steal at $50 But even at the regular price it sure is easy to monitor and empty so it may be worth think about.

Re: Dust seperator
I have a Dust Deputy, which is a similar product, hooked to my shop vac and it works great. Before I got it, the filter would clog very quickly and I would lose suction rapidly. Now that I have the Dust Deputy installed, I get almost no debris in my vacuum, but the DD canister is full. I still get some fine dust into the vacuum, but none of the large stuff. My filters last 10 times as long too!
I almost forgot, the Dust Deputy come with two five gallon buckets and has casters to aid with mobility. However, I did not install them on mine. I had some issues with the canister tipping over, but after putting a cobble stone in the bottom, it almost never tips over any more. I did not spill when it tipped mind you, it was just annoying.

I bought an Oneida funnel-type top, screwed it into some plywood, some weatherstripping around the inside of the rim; the handle on the bucket holds it down nicely. Screwed some plywood onto an 8$ HF dolly, and it rolls around very easily.

Re: Dust seperator
I want to get one of these types of separators, but I just don't have anymore space on my floor for something like these units. I'll have to give more thought to how I might use it. I hate how quickly my shop vac filter loads up

I got this from Woodcraft:

and a 30 gal trash can from Lowes. This setup holds a bunch and when I go to the dump I just take off the top put on the trash can lid and I'm good to go.

I've "Ben-Had" again!

I understand that if you put an opposing elbow on the vacuum side that unit is vastly improved.
