Income taxes over last year were kind to us. Anja allowed me to buy a Jet 16-32 drumsander. Lotta money, but hey, what a dream to work with. You can sip on a beverage while the thing does the work. Smooth and easy to the desired thickness. The setting to a staight horizontal result took some passes, but now it is right, I'm gonna have a lot of fun with it. No more the annoying chipping while planing figured woods.

Give her another one for me, but don't get carried away - you have work to do. :-)

Re: Jet 16-32
Anja thanks you guys for your clarifying reviews on the sander.
Re: Jet 16-32
We have a little 10-20 Jet -- works wells. Not sure how the elevation screw works on the 16-32, but we stripped out the aluminum hosing twice, once in warranty second not. I devised a more durable system as the repair -- a new housing was about half the price of a brand new machine. That said you'll enjoy a good drum sander, they eliminate a ton of hassle.

Re: Jet 16-32
Thanks ken,
The suspension of the 10-20 looks different from the 16-32.
This is the 16-32: How durable the system is, well, we'll see.

Re: Jet 16-32
Of course our machine gets a lot of production use -- I am sure you'll be just fine.
I highly recommend the blue zirconia abrasive it is no doubt worth the extra $$ since it will outlast the aluminum oxide 3 or 4 to 1-- no kidding!
