Close encounters with the rich and famous and not so much

I remember that album. He sang the red headed stranger in the intervals between the other songs. Blue eyes crying in the rain was on that too I believe. I remember my Daddy singing Blue Eyes for me I couldn't have been more then five. So somewhere around 1950.

Yes, the song was written by Fred Rose, in 1945 who also helped write and then published most of Hank Williams songs...Lonnie B wrote:I remember that album. Originally recorded in 1945 by Roy Acuff, "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" was recorded by Hank Williams in 1951 for the Mother's Best Flour Hour and it took off from there.
I have a collection of 3500 records including many single sided Edison discs (I own an up-right Edison Player with the proper head for the recordings) and a two single sided 1928 Columbia Paul Whiteman dual recording of La Paloma first record, then and La Golondrina second record...VERY rare set...I LOVE the history of recorded music.
I'm in the process (With the help of my Grandson) Of transferring all the recordings to CD's...what a job! Whew!
I have BOTH of those 78 RPM Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain records in my collection and will never part with them...my Dad bought them when they were released. One of HIS favorite tunes as well!

That's awesome Ray. I have a cd of the Everly Brothers greatest hits and a Carol King and Lady Gaga CD. I do love all music though. I got together a pretty good collection of all the early rock n roll pioneers to give to my granddaughters so they would have a clue as to where modern music came from. My 16 yr old Grandaughter is now hooked on it. Her fav is Buddy Holly.
Wow just keeping inventory must be quite a job. Well we all have our toys don't we. Nice collection btw.
