I have a story I'd like to share with y'all. On Thursdays I teach music to two sisters. Mackensie age 10 and Kaylee Nicole age nine. Not long ago a friend of mine who has changed his horse barn into a nite club(no alcohol) stage,pa set, stage lights etc. He invites musician friends every once in awhile to come and play. He had one about three weeks ago. My wife and I took the girls as they had never performed anywhere before. I rehearsed them on a couple of Everly Brothers songs and a children's song. They had a great time.
My friend made mention on Facebook that he had been asked to hold a songwriters night where only original songs would be performed. I must have mentioned this to the girls at last weeks lesson. Last night being Thursday little Kaylee Nicole walked in and sat down in front of me and handed me a piece of paper. It had printing on both sides. Now I needed help reading it in spots as it was the handwriting of a second grader. When I had finished I looked at her and said " Did you write this"? She answered yes. Then she said is that a song? I said well yes it needs a little work but it's definately a song. Does this mean I'm a songwriter she asked? Well yes sweety you are an official songwriter. Does this mean I get to go to the music barn for songwriters night. I just shook my head and said Angel
I wouldn't dream of going without you.
Now after working on her new song for an hour plus listening to some Carol King I sent the young lady home all stoked as the youngest songwriter I know. I have to say it is a good song too. A real catchy little thing.
I just wanted to share this with you I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Re: Song Writing
Absolutely did! What a great story...and that's exactly how many writers got started. Either that or in Church! I LOVE it, thank you so much!!
Re: Song Writing
Thanks Ray glad you liked it. Their dad brought them by for a couple hours yesterday while he went to the Dr. I showed her what I had posted about her. First I teased her a little cause she's only in the second grade and probably can't read anyway. Boy you should have seen her little face light up as her lips moved as she was forming the words in her mind. I told her now people all over the world knows about you. She just grabbed me and gave me the biggest old hug. What a nice kid.

Re: Song Writing
A great story. I am one who enjoys children performing. Although I am more stressed out than my kids (I guess adults now) when they are performing.
