Do you recognize these tuners?
One of Jeffery Elliot's guitars. My next instrument will likely be an 8-string, and I need to find tuners that have this configuration.

In one a the Guild of American Luthiers issues there is a very good article about tan eight string he built. Jeff Elliott has his email on his web page. He is pretty free with information. I copy his classical guitar design, that is a modified Hauser 42 plan.

Just a side bar -- I noticed that some of those machines tighten left some right, it would take me a year to tune that instrument.

Yeah I noticed that - but since mine will be only 8 strings, it should not take more than maybe 6 months to tune it. :-)
