My student Steve used CA and accelerator for gluing the side supports this morning. It went very quickly and easily, with no clamping, and clean up was just a very little sanding. He held the support on with one hand, dropped some CA against one side of the support, and then dabbled a little accelerator. Done.

The following is a TRUE story and I still have the scars to prove it and my Wife will still laugh on cue!
I had a horizontal crack in a mahogany side a while back, some of you may remember...and it was suggested that it could be quickly and easily repaired with CA...."No harm DONE!"...and although I'm far from being a "Cork Sniffer" (One who believes that you Can hear the difference of say hide glue and the exact type of lacquer used...and maybe even the shade of the top...) I can definitely testify that it will glue your thumb and forefinger together quite firmly...and then if dripped on some material like my shorts were made of, will smoke and actually catch on fire and BURN skin and melt fabric on your leg...I'm not sure if they could hear it or not, nobody has ever said anything....we are at least 2 acres between houses...(But they SHOULD have) there was a definiate change in sound pitch and the vocabulary wasn't good EITHER...so have you got the picture yet?
My fingers were glued together, the bottle tip was glued between them, the CA was running down my arm and off onto my pants which are now on fire.. and I have but one hand to fit the side crack with before it sets up, put out the fire, stop the glue and, well....it wasn't pretty....I don't like CA and it doesn't like me...but I now have the spray stuff that removes it and separates your fingers....ain't life grand???

No guitar or any building materials were hurt during this event. only my pride!!

Since discovering the accelerator, I've used the CA on various steps, and clean-up has not been any problem. I have NOT used it on braces or bridge.
On binding - no tape or bands necessary, works great, gotta seal endgrains on light wood tops first of course.
On Kerfing - no clamps necessary
On side supports - no clamps necessary
Soundhole binding - using a very fine tip on the ca bottle, and sealing the grain around the hole first. No clamping.
For those things, I find the CA to be less messy, easier to clean up, faster, and allowing for more accurate placement - i.e., no sliding around, waiting for tacking.
Other gluing chores, I do use titebond or lmii luthier's glue.
Just my $.02

I know Dave, it's good stuff...but boy...don't ever get any on polyester clothing....whew...HOT SOB! I had no idea it would react adversely to things of the kind but I sure found out...the hard way!! :>) Truth is I laugh at it now but it wasn't funny at the time!!!

I use it but it is a bit fast for me. I do not disagree with your uses and clamping first and wicking in the CA is a good idea. I am even more reluctant to use accelerator as I have had it boil the CA leaving a hard white foam.
I am sort of with Ray. I usually end up with the part glued to me, not to the instrument.
