Steve's KMG 000-12 kit

Post by Dave Bagwill » Thu Mar 20, 2014 8:37 pm

Steve Gies is starting work on what is going to be a real sweet 000-12, EIR/Sitka KMG kit. He's a good guy who already has some woodworking chops, so this should be a lot of fun.

Looks like fun! It must be really rewarding doing these classes.

It's fun, and it's good having someone around in the shop as well. And the final product, which really surprises people, is always a kick.

End wedge is in, back braces are thinned about right, rim is nice and solid and clean.
Steve installed the side supports by holding them in place with one hand, putting a couple of drops of CA along one side, and then adding some accelerator. Worked like a charm - the CA wicks under the support to the other side, the accelerator cures it instantly, and the CA just sands off very easily if there is any residue. No clamping! Fast, easy, and clean.

A little brace shaping before gluing on.
