12-string headstock length

Post by peter havriluk » Sun Mar 16, 2014 12:39 pm

Folks,

Does anyone know what a typical headstock length is for a 12-string neck? I've wound up with a roughed-out neck with a longer-than-normal headstock, and I'm curious if it was intended for a 12-string.

Thanks!

Not quite sure what "wound up with" means. If you meant a purchased rough neck, some roughed out necks come with a taller than normal head stock to allow flexibility in final shaping of the head stock.

Unfortunately, I do not know the answer for a typical 12 string.

John, here's the source of my comment: I bought a pair of necks from a luthier and I assumed I was getting two of the same, no statement to the contrary. One of the necks has a longer headstock, and I became curious if it was usable on a 12-string.

Ken, thanks for the dimensions.
