I also like the Rigid a lot. The weak point on the HF may be the table.

I know a fellow with that Ridgid sander and he loves it. I have a disc sander and it's fine for it's niche purpose but doesn't have nearly the versatility of an oscillating belt sander.

I went down and spent some tax return on the Ridgid. Haven't unboxed it yet.
Though the 12" disc sander is something I would use quite a bit, and I think I will build one.

Let me know how it works out. I have been eyeing one for awhile. My main issue is lack of space, so I am really slow to add another tool. I am thinking of taking the router table up to the garage, as I use it only for the truss rod slot and using the space for an oscillating sander.

How high does that belt sand on the Rigid?

Don't know - it is a 4" belt, so I'm guessing that at the top of the oscillation, you've got your 4"?

4" is good. I don't have a smidgeon of bench top space left, but I could put something like that on a shelf and bring it out when I need it. I wish I had MORE SPACE.
